About The Proposal by Mary Balogh

In this Regency romance, Gwendoline, Lady Muir, is a young widow who is content with her life and has no wish to marry again. Hugo, Lord Trentham, is a former military officer and war hero whose bravery earned him a title. Though he is the son of a merchant and prefers working the land, his new status brings an expectation that he find a wife.

After Hugo carries Gwen to safety following a fall, an unexpected attraction complicates both their plans. Their courtship brings together a woman wary of remarriage and a man who must learn how to win her heart. The novel opens Balogh’s Survivors’ Club series and will suit readers looking for a character-focused Regency romance built around courtship, desire, and the possibility of a lasting partnership.
