About A Matter of Class by Mary Balogh

Set in Regency society, A Matter of Class centers on the divide between wealth and titled status. Reginald Mason is wealthy and refined, but his lack of a title troubles both him and his father. Lady Annabelle Ashton, daughter of an earl and a neighbor from a rival family, has been left disgraced by scandal.

When their fathers see marriage as a way to serve their own interests, Reginald and Annabelle enter an engagement neither wants. Their resentment, family rivalry, and the secrets and deception surrounding them shape this historical romance. Readers drawn to Regency romance and stories of social rank, reluctant engagements, and complicated family interests may find it a good fit.
