About On Her Majesty's Frightfully Secret Service by Rhys Bowen
Georgie Rannoch has two reasons to travel to Italy: her friend Belinda is awaiting the birth of her baby, and the Queen has asked Georgie to attend a house party in the Italian Lake Country. Her royal assignment is to help prevent a possible secret wedding involving the Prince of Wales and Mrs. Simpson.
At the gathering, Georgie must manage old hostility with the hostess and keep Belinda’s condition from the other guests. With Darcy undercover on a dangerous mission and Georgie’s actress mother arriving with a task of her own, the novel combines historical mystery with cozy-mystery and romantic elements. It should suit readers who enjoy royal intrigue, social complications, and mysteries set in a historical world.
