About Ready or Not by Meg Cabot
In this 2005 young adult novel, Samantha Madison is navigating a new relationship with the president’s son while serving as an unpaid teen ambassador to the United Nations. Her life gets more complicated when she discusses the president’s policies on families, morals, and sex on MTV—and inadvertently makes a very personal announcement live on air.
Sam also faces a new after-school job, attention from people who recognize her as the girl who saved the president’s life, friction involving her popular sister Lucy, and an unexpected art-class lesson. With its mix of teen romance, high-school concerns, family tension, and humor, the novel suits readers looking for contemporary young adult fiction.
