Robert Frost (1874–1963) was an American poet best known for poems that explore rural New England life, nature, work, choice, and the tensions within ordinary speech. Though his poems often use traditional forms and conversational language, they frequently raise complex philosophical questions. His widely read works include “The Road Not Taken,” “Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening,” “Mending Wall,” and “Birches.” Frost received four Pulitzer Prizes for Poetry and became one of the most influential American poets of the twentieth century.
