Her debut novel, Dans le jardin de l’ogre, was followed by Chanson douce, published in English as The Perfect Nanny, which won the Prix Goncourt in 2016. She later began The Country of Others, a trilogy drawing on Morocco’s history. Slimani has also written nonfiction, including Sex and Lies, about women’s sexuality and social expectations in Morocco.
