About The Western Star by Craig Johnson
A photograph of twenty-five armed men beside a steam locomotive draws Sheriff Walt Longmire back to his early years as a deputy. Fresh from Vietnam, he once joined his mentor Lucian aboard the Western Star, an excursion train carrying Wyoming sheriffs to their annual association gathering. Now, with a parole hearing approaching for a dangerous man from his past, Walt must reckon with how that earlier journey connects to the present.
The thirteenth Walt Longmire novel blends a Wyoming law-enforcement setting with mystery, crime, and suspense, moving between Walt’s past and present. It should appeal to readers following the Longmire series and to fans of Western-tinged detective fiction.
