About The Raven and the Reindeer by T. Kingfisher
In this sly retelling of Hans Christian Andersen’s “The Snow Queen,” Gerta sets out to find her friend Kay after the mysterious Snow Queen takes him away. Her search leads through a dangerous landscape of snow and witchcraft, with a bandit and a talking raven as her companions.
The story’s premise pairs a fairy-tale quest with the possibility that following one’s heart may lead somewhere unexpected. It may suit readers looking for a fantasy retelling of a familiar Andersen tale, especially those drawn to journeys through strange and perilous settings.
