About The Murmur of Bees by Sofía Segovia
Set in Linares, a small Mexican town, this novel follows the Morales family and Simonopio, a baby found abandoned under a bridge and covered in bees. Francisco and Beatriz Morales take him in, while the bees and his visions of what is to come make him a source of wonder and suspicion among the locals.
Against the backdrop of the Mexican Revolution and the devastating influenza of 1918, the story brings a family’s fate into contact with a country in upheaval. Readers interested in Mexican fiction, historical novels, and stories that weave uncanny elements into family history may find it especially compelling.
