About The Broker by John Grisham
Joel Backman, a notorious Washington power broker, has spent six years in federal prison when an outgoing president grants him a controversial pardon. The CIA’s pressure behind that decision is tied to secrets Backman may have obtained about a sophisticated satellite surveillance system.
Smuggled to Italy with a new identity, Backman is meant to live quietly—until the CIA reveals his whereabouts to several foreign governments and waits to see who will kill him. The novel will suit readers looking for a fast-moving political and espionage thriller built around intelligence agencies, international pursuit, and a dangerous secret.
