About Syren by Angie Sage
The fifth Septimus Heap fantasy follows Septimus, Jenna, and Beetle after they become stranded on one of seven islands, with Septimus’s badly injured dragon, Spit Fyre. The island holds unsettling mysteries: a Magykal girl named Syrah, a cat-shaped lighthouse without its Light, and a presence whose song keeps calling to Septimus.
Elsewhere, Lucy and Wolf Boy are caught up with dangerous sailors, while Jenna’s father, Milo Banda, keeps a mysterious chest aboard his ship. With magic, dragons, and several strands of adventure, this 2010 installment is suited to middle-grade and young adult readers who enjoy fantasy.
