About Snapshot by Brandon Sanderson
Brandon Sanderson’s 2017 science-fiction novella centers on a police investigation conducted inside a recreated version of a city. Detectives Anthony Davis and Chaz are sent into a Snapshot of May 1 to find evidence of events from the real world ten days earlier.
Their routine assignment changes when they encounter the aftermath of a mass killing and are ordered not to investigate it. Readers drawn to science fiction, mystery, and crime stories may enjoy this premise of detective work in a temporary replica where the investigators hold unusual authority—and face risks as the Snapshot nears its end.
