Published by Dzanc Books in 2023, Peach Pit: Sixteen Stories of Unsavory Women gathers contemporary literary and horror fiction about women who are dangerous, morally complicated, and unwilling to play nice. The anthology features stories by Lauren Groff, Deesha Philyaw, K-Ming Chang, and thirteen other writers.
Its scenarios include a woman seeking revenge on men she meets through dating sites, teenage girls competing to be named “Worst Girl in America,” and a young woman in Taiwan drawn to a female scam caller. Across the collection, ambition, grief, spite, and desire shape portraits of women as con artists, murderers, and other kinds of outcasts. Readers interested in feminist, queer, and unsettling short fiction may find this collection especially compelling.
