About October Fest by Jess Lourey
Battle Lake, Minnesota, marks October with polka, sausage, and cold drinks—and a debate between two congressional hopefuls. Reporter Mira James is covering the event when a relentless political blogger is found dead at a packed motor lodge, turning the candidates, their campaign teams, and visiting tourists into possible suspects.
This cozy mystery follows Mira through campaign mudslinging and the candidates’ dirty laundry as she tries to uncover the killer. A thread of mixed signals from local resident Johnny Leeson adds a personal complication to the investigation. This revised 2024 edition includes editorial revisions.
