About Mestra by Madeline Miller
In Mestra, Madeline Miller retells a Greek myth through the story of Mestra, daughter of the King of Thessaly. Poseidon grants her the ability to transform into any being she can imagine, while her father suffers an insatiable hunger after being cursed by Demeter for disrespecting the goddess.
Mestra uses her gift to help her father survive, but his hunger raises a difficult question: how much can he take from her? This fantasy novella may appeal to readers interested in Greek mythology, myth retellings, and stories about the strain of family obligation.
