About Love Forms by Claire Adam

At sixteen, Dawn became pregnant and, as was common in Trinidad at the time, her parents sent her away to have the baby and give her up for adoption. More than forty years later, now fifty-eight and divorced, Dawn still feels the absence of the daughter she has never known.

Her search for the daughter leads her back toward home and into the choices and turning points that have shaped her life. Claire Adam’s novel considers motherhood, adoption, family, and the lasting pull of the past through one woman’s attempt to reconnect.

Readers interested in literary fiction about family relationships, adoption, and the complicated bonds between home and identity may find this a compelling choice. The story spans decades and moves between Dawn’s present search and her memories of growing up in Trinidad.
