About Lost Souls Meet Under a Full Moon by Mizuki Tsujimura
Ayumi Shibuya offers an unusual service: as a teenage Go-Between, he arranges meetings between the living and people who have died. Each reunion is a one-time arrangement, takes place under a full moon, and can be refused by the deceased.
The requests come from people seeking very different answers: a woman from Tokyo hopes to meet a TV star who once helped her; an eldest son wants to ask his mother about land deeds; a teenager carries guilt over her best friend’s death; and a businessman is looking for answers about his missing fiancée. As these encounters unfold, clues also begin to reveal Ayumi’s own story.
Published by Scribner in 2025, this work of Japanese magical realism and suspense may appeal to readers drawn to stories about the living and the dead, mysteries built through connected encounters, and contemporary Japanese fiction.
