About Laurie by Stephen King
After his wife’s death, 65-year-old retiree Lloyd Sunderland is depressed and struggling with his health. His sister brings him a puppy, Laurie, and although he is reluctant at first, caring for her gradually helps him return to daily routines, including part-time work and regular walks along a Florida canal.
Those walks turn dangerous when Lloyd and Laurie encounter the aftermath of an alligator attack. Set in a fictional Florida island community, this 2018 story brings together bereavement, the bond between a person and a dog, and a sudden fight for survival. It may appeal to readers interested in Stephen King’s fiction and stories where everyday life gives way to peril.
