About Emma of 83rd Street by Audrey Bellezza
Set in Manhattan’s Upper East Side dating scene, this witty contemporary romance reworks Jane Austen’s Emma around Emma Woodhouse, a 23-year-old grad student whose matchmaking hobby has helped bring about her sister’s marriage—and left her bored when her sister and friends move on. A new friendship with Nadine gives Emma a fresh project, but her longtime neighbor George Knightley is quick to challenge her choices.
As Emma’s matchmaking plans meet the complications of modern dating, George begins to see his childhood friend differently. With its Austen-inspired setup, romantic misunderstandings, and Manhattan social scene, the novel may appeal to readers who enjoy contemporary takes on familiar stories, as well as fans of Bridget Jones’s Diary and Clueless.
