About Earl of Benton by Madeline Martin
Alistair Johnstone has spent years in Scotland, running whisky and keeping his English heritage at a distance. Inheriting an earldom forces him back to England, but when his mother’s whisky-running attempt goes wrong, he takes on one last dangerous run himself—one that could end in a traitor’s death if he is caught.
Emma Thorne is close to reaching her majority and inheriting her fortune, but her uncle has tried to kill her. Seeking safety, she escapes to an estate hosting a house party for the Wicked Earls’ Club and encounters Alistair. This Regency romance brings their separate dangers together in a story of flight, inheritance, illicit whisky running, and the possibility that they might save one another. It may suit readers who enjoy historical romance with peril and a central romantic relationship.
