About Dominion by C.J. Sansom
In this alternate-history thriller, Britain has surrendered to Nazi Germany after Dunkirk. By 1952, authoritarian rule shapes daily life: the press and broadcast media are controlled, auxiliary police patrol the streets, and British Jews face increasing restrictions. Resistance is growing, with Winston Churchill’s organisation challenging the government.
Civil servant David Fitzgerald is secretly working for the Resistance when he is assigned to rescue his old friend Frank Muncaster, an incarcerated scientist whose knowledge may affect the wider conflict. The mission turns David and a group of Resistance activists into fugitives, while his wife Sarah is drawn into the danger and Gestapo officer Gunther Hoth pursues them. Published in 2012, Dominion may appeal to readers of alternate history, wartime fiction and suspenseful resistance stories.
