About Crossing the Wine-Dark Sea: Journeys Through Ancient Literature by Emily Wilson

Emily Wilson examines the choices and challenges involved in reading, writing about, and translating ancient literature. Drawing on two decades of scholarship and teaching, she considers both the pleasure of finding fresh solutions to old translation problems and the limits of carrying an ancient work fully into another language.

Accessible to readers without a background in classics, this book will interest anyone curious about Greek and Roman literature, translation, and the ways contemporary readers encounter ancient cultures.
