About Blightfall by Brandon Sanderson
After decades of war against alien oppressors, Arturo Mendez and the pilots of Skyward Flight face their first postwar assignment: escort diplomats seeking contact with human settlements isolated during the conflict. What appears to be a straightforward protective mission leads them to Blightfall, an inhospitable planet covered in giant forests and surrounded by mysterious debris.
When the team is attacked, it becomes clear that the settlement is not what it seems. Stranded in an unfamiliar place and uncertain whom to trust, Arturo and his pilots must seek allies and uncover secrets to find a way home. The first installment in the Skyward Flight trilogy, this science fiction adventure will suit readers looking for a story of pilots, diplomacy, and danger on an alien world.
