About A Killer's Mind by Mike Omer
A killer is still roaming the streets of Maynard, and newspaper reports describe women seized at night and murdered. In the available excerpt, Zoe follows the coverage, carefully adding an article to her scrapbook and wondering whether an arrest is near.
The passage’s unsettling turn comes when Zoe rejects the papers’ description of the killer as a “monster”: the danger, she realizes, comes from a man. Readers who enjoy crime-centered mystery and thriller fiction may be drawn to this glimpse of an unresolved threat and the way it is reported and understood.
