Agatha Christie (1890–1976) was an English author whose ingenious mysteries made her one of the world’s most widely read writers. She created two enduring detectives: the meticulous Belgian investigator Hercule Poirot and the observant village sleuth Miss Marple. Her best-known novels include Murder on the Orient Express, And Then There Were None, and The Murder of Roger Ackroyd, celebrated for their carefully constructed plots and surprising solutions.
Christie also wrote plays, including The Mousetrap, which became one of the longest-running theatrical productions in history. Her work continues to shape detective fiction through its memorable characters, intricate puzzles, and exploration of motive and deception.
